I'd just like to say one more thing here.

We had a prerelease of 30 boards that went flawlessly and lasted several months so we had complete feedback on the boards. This issue with the 157 chips was an unforseen problem that we could have never expected using chips from the same company. We changed no variables in the final production boards and expected the same flawless output as the prerelease. The chips were just purchased at a different time and happen to have some issue. Rather than blame the company that sold the chips and point fingers, we're taking care of the problem and offering exchanges. We ask that you be polite and let us do that.

Everyone's time is worth something and we realize that. I'd like to personally thank Chris Harris for the testing you've done and Craig Moates for taking the time to swap out these chips *by hand* on every single production unit. The customers as well for being patient and for supporting this product. It's been my hope to have NepTune out in the hands of the public for a very long time.

Thank you guys. Smile

I second that.... my prerelease board is flawless and has been working for about half a year now.

Big props to James for taking care of his customers. Thanks. I appreciate it.

I have prerelease and final boards and all deliver the same performance, flawlessly.

All production boards were not affected, luckily. Smile

I assume these are the chips in question:

If so, I assume I could just buy four and replace them myself? I would like to avoid the downtime now that I have my car back together after two months down for paint/body?

I'm sure that you would void any chance of a warranty if you modify them yourself....

You could replace them yourself, Jim, but you have no way to test that the chips you got were any better and that would void the warranty, like Tepid said. Craig has the bench setup to test read/write after he swaps the chips to ensure that all is well. The dealer you got it from has units in stock that have undergone this testing already and will swap it right out for you with little down time, if any (Contact them). It's up to you, though.

What warranty? I haven't seen any specific mention of anything in this regard.

Is this situation itself not part of a warranty? You have the option of exchanging your malfunctioning unit for a brand new one that works properly. Clearly you saw mention of that. You're posting in regards to it, are you not? Wink

Sounds like it meets the prerequisites of being a warranty to me. Very Happy

Exactly. I just haven't seen anything stating a duration or specifics of what's covered. That's all. I know I don't have to worry about customer service here. Cool

Gotcha. Moates usually supports the products he makes for long periods of time, if it's not considered misuse or abuse. Smile I'll see if I can get a specific length of time from him.

can I switch my board out from any dealer or do I have to switch it from the dealer I bought my board from?
