Shift Indicator Question

drtalon Sun Feb 26, 2017 12:59 am

Ok, maybe someone can explain how the Gear Position Indicator works in Neptune, while attached to a Honda manual transmission? The only sensor on the transmission is the vehicle speed sensor correct? How the hell does it know proper gear position? And before someone says RPM vs vehicle speed, the software indicates position changes while moving the selector around while stationary?? How is it able to do this as there are no other sensors on the transmission or around the shift linkage? Is there more to the VSS than just a hall effect sensor for the rotational readings? Thanks!

RPM vs speed, by the gear settings you have control of in the software. That's it, actually.

If the wheels aren't moving then it certainly sounds like it.
