Aditional USB for programing

walo Mon Nov 04, 2013 1:31 am

Hello, I want to use the top port of the tunerview (not the mini-usb port) to connect via USB to my laptop and I need to make the USB connector.
Is there any how-to, pinout, or something to make it work?

The pinout is printed right on the board, but just use the actual USB plug. With the USB adapters that are available nowadays there's absolutely no reason to do what you're asking.

As stated there are a lot of adapters nowadays... low profile included.

But the pinouts are right on the connectors on the side if you want to get creative with some FTDI adapters. That's beyond normal support and I can't help you do it while maintaining any type of warranty.

I don't even have 1mm of space to a connector in the top Sad

But why should i lost warranty to use a provided port?

In faqt here http://www.hrtuning.com/TunerViewHelp/# is a help abount those ports.

The top plug is the expansion plug for daisy chaining (Master), bluetooth, or other future peripherals. If you're daisy chaining your unit make sure you have the right cable and plug the cable into the top port on the master unit that you've set into daisy mode.

I dont mind to buy a pre-made connector, but i don't know anyone.

Just to be sure, COM3 (in the top) is to connect to a computer?

Your quote doesn't say anything about USB connectivity, so I'm not sure why you quoted it. Due to previous customers not following directions and blaming those directions for ending the life of their unit I can't help you any further on breaking out the control port for USB usage.

Outside of warranty there are plenty of FTDI FT232RL breakout boards available in the world and the pinouts are labeled right on the connector. It's not difficult to match them up. *cough* *hint* *hint*.

Yes. That functions the same way after you connect and add it as a COM port.
