CRX CEL Question

Apexi Fri Apr 05, 2013 9:40 am

Im really sorry if this has been asked before, i did look through the old posts and coudn't find anything related to this

Myself and my buddy both have a 1991 CRX, both cars have OBD1 conversion with a Neptune ECU installed
Both cars have the CEL light shining bright with it giving a quick flash from time to time but on the Neptune Software with the datalogging running there is no CEL problem.
Both cars have been tuned and drive perfectly fine.

The only issue that we came accross was that the Dizzy conversion harness we ordered from ZERG did not fit as the plugs were different on the cars harness compared to the OBD1 dizzy
The wires had to be manually connected but if it was done wrong then the Neptune would have picked up something?

Any ideas? i don't really wanna pull the globe out for it to be off

I don't understand your question. If the ECU was outputting the CEL you'd see it in logging as well.

If it's not receiving the correct signals you'll get a CEL.

Im sorry if im unclear, the ECU does not have a CEL fault on it at all but the CEL light on the cluster is on

If the ECU is in limp mode you will not find any codes when checking. You'll have a low rev limit. Otherwise it's a setting you have setup to control the MIL.

Again, you can see in NepTune datalogging whether the CEL should be on in the data list or by creating a light for MIL.

If you have a NepTune RTP you're in the wrong section, but my replies above still apply.

Ok cool made a few changes as the car still isn't driving properly
At the moment the cluster is flashing 23 error code, when I connect a laptop to the neptune and start the car and start the logging the MIL light also flashes 23 but in the error codes box it doesn't show knock sensor error or any other error.

Car drive "ok" when its cold but when its warm it jerks and the more throttle I give the more it jerks

Any ideas?

Will do tomorrow so tomorrow and let you know

Drove the car yesterday to have the alarm system sorted and on the way home it got so bad that if I gave full throttle you just heard the filter noise and the revs just dropped.
I could only give about 5% throttle or it would jerk.

If it's not knock sensor related then you have some other mechanical issues going on.

Thanks a lot, I'm so frustrated with the car right now
Replaced injectors, fuel pump and earth straps
Its a newly built 11 comp B16 engine
I had the very same ecu in my EG hatch with no issues

It could be your tune as well or the timing could be off.

The car was on the dyno for 2 hours on Friday night after fitting the stock injectors back in
Problem seems to get worse the warmer the car gets so im thinking it could be Coil?

Ok just got back in the house, disabled the knock sensor and now the MIL light is on permanently on the neptune and on the cluster and still no code in the error codes window.

I didn't drive it though, was just revving it in the garage till the temps went up to 93 degrees Celcius and it wasn't breaking down at all.
Will drive it a bit later and see if the breaking down has stopped but why is the check light on. And no code is showing?
